Why does DYE do this in SALT?

Do you know what happens when Dye and Salt mix? I wasn’t sure what would happen when I mixed red and blue dye with salt at the bottom of the beaker. Can you explain the results? Blue and Red dye mix without mixing or stirring. They don't go to the bottom of the beaker either where the salt is. Why is that? How does osmosis and diffusion (and perhaps a few more things) explain this interesting phenomena?
